There is no forgiveness without love, and there is no love without forgiveness.
Reading through the book of Genesis the other day about the story of Joseph and his brothers, and how they met until the whole family had to reunite and settled on the Goshen valley. He Converted the hatred and rejection from his brethren in to love.
How often have we made bad situations worst and turn our relationships and families into a chaotic arena, just because we what to “do unto others, what they did to us”
Despite all what Joseph went through in the hands of his brothers, right up to the point of near death when he was thrown into a deep pit. In fact his own father considered him dead, and maybe a funeral was done in absentia 🙂 . For sure, Joseph going through all these despite the dreams he had and all what God had been showing him, he was wounded in the inside, physically, emotionally, psychologically wounds were being inflicted on his soul. From being sold as a slave, to false accusation of rape by Portiphar’s wife , to prison and abandonment.Humanly speaking he had every right to treat his brothers the same way. But the bible says when Joseph realized those were his brothers, though he was stern and extremely strict with them, he shed tears, tears of love and compassion, tears of Joy that atlast he could see his brothers again. And despite the multiple wounds inflicted on him by his brothers, Love wiped away hatred and bitterness. If he had ordered for them to be executed, no one would have questioned him, but he chose to have mercy and compassion towards his brothers who had almost killed him.
Without Love beyond the wounds of rejection, abandonment, imprisonment, false accusations, slavery and slave trade, Jacob’s family and today’s Israel would have been nonexistent. Love and Compassion saves a generation from Famine and extinction, and a new nation was born.
Proverbs 17:9 says : Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.
If you and I would exercise love and mercy towards one another, after the pain, the rejection, and the wounds we suffered, we will save lives, our families will know little or no hardship and tough times that many are going through right now. Many spirits will be uplifted and the lives of many in our communities will be transformed and hope will set the pace for a better tomorrow.
Colossians 3:13 – Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
Oh yes many will tell you it is not easy after what they went through, They are right, it is not easy at all, I have been through such circumstances, and I tell you the truth it is a bitter pill which we must swallow in order to survive. But with God, all things are possible, You just need to picture the cross, how has saved you from eternal condemnation and the spirit of God will make a way for you.
Ephesians 4:32 – Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Finally Brethren, there is no forgiveness without love, and there is no love without forgiveness.
Have a blessed day ahead.
